Patients at high risk of bleeding

Patients to be carefully evaluated for possible risk of bleeding

Prolonged PT (INR > 1.5)

Prolonged APTT (except antiphospholipid antibody syndrome)

Thrombocytopenia < 50,000/µl

 

Known bleeding diathesis

Severe CRF (creatinine clearance < 30 ml/min)

Chronic liver disease with prior bleeding episodes

Family or personal history of major bleeding

Multiple trauma (ISS ≥ 15)

Concomitant use of drugs affecting hemostasis (e.g., antiplatelet drugs, anti-inflammatory drugs)
