It is with great sadness that we announce the untimely passing of Dr. Luca Pierannunzii, who passed away on 10 May 2023. The President of the Society of Orthopedics and Traumatology (SIOT), the Board of Directors, the Members and Editors of the Journal of Orthopedics and Traumatology (JOOT) express their deepest condolences to his family.
He has held the position of Executive Editor of the Journal of Orthopedics and Traumatology, the official publication of SIOT, since 2010. He contributed in the editorial activities of the magazine with great dedication and professionalism, helping to achieve the prestigious result of the journal’s Impact Factor.

“Luca Pierannunzii was held in high esteem by all of us and we will remember him with affection.
We will remember him for his ability to create deep friendships and for his notable ethical and moral standing, as well as for his exceptional scientific and professional competence as a surgeon and orthopedic traumatologist.
For many years he was a kind and devoted collaborator in patient care and in the scientific and research activities in which he excelled.
He leaves us moments of life spent together, constructive discussions about our activities and our common interests, and the important legacy of a publishing project, now to be carried on without him.
We will feel his absence with great sadness.”
